James Perl is a dedicated and experienced criminal defense attorney at the Law Offices of Randall B. Isenberg. Based in Dallas, Texas, James focuses his practice on defending individuals facing a wide range of criminal charges…… from DWI and drug offenses to assault, family violence, and other serious allegations.
Since becoming a criminal defense attorney, James has dedicated his career to helping clients navigate one of the most difficult experiences of their lives….. being charged with a crime. He approaches every case with compassion, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to achieving the best possible outcome for his clients.
Education & Background
James earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina College of Law, where he developed a strong foundation in criminal procedure, constitutional law, and trial advocacy. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2015. James’ career has included service as a Magistrate of the Commonwealth of Virginia, a municipal prosecutor, a misdemeanor prosecutor, a felony prosecutor, and a chief prosecutor before transitioning into his current role as a criminal defense attorney.
His academic and professional experiences fostered a passion for advocating for those whose rights and freedom are on the line. James is enthusiastic about holding the government accountable and making sure that his clients’ rights are vindicated and upheld. James’ approach to his clients’ cases combines a deep understanding of the law with a client-centered focus.
Practice Philosophy
James believes that everyone deserves to have their side of the story heard and that fair treatment under the law is not optional….. it’s a right. James believes that the government, including prosecutors, should be accountable to the people. He works closely with each client to ensure they understand every step of the legal process and feel supported from start to finish.

Outside the Office
When he’s not advocating for his clients, James enjoys reading about history, exploring Dallas’s vibrant food scene, and giving back to the community through volunteer work as the coach of the mock trial team at Bryan Adams High School Leadership Academy.
