Plea Bargain

A plea bargain is an agreement between the defense and prosecution to resolve a criminal defense case without a trial. Depending on the circumstances, a plea agreement may involve a reduction or dismissal of charges, an agreed sentence, probation, or another negotiated outcome. The judge must approve the agreement where required by law.
